Four of our team took part in the Macmillan Mighty Hike on Saturday 18 June 2022 raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The hike, described as “hilly” takes you from Dalemain House & Gardens near Penrith, around Lake Ullswater, finishing at Lowther Castle – a total of 26 miles.
The team decided to take on the hike last year to challenge themselves and also raise vital funds for a fantastic charity. Training hasn’t been plain sailing as a couple of team members dealt with an ankle injury and long COVID.
Heidi Marshall, Partner at Dodd & Co who is a keen runner previously having completed the London Marathon commented “I swear my feet did not hurt this much after I ran a marathon! What a day! Our team spirit was amazing, we all struck together for the full 26 miles and we laughed a lot, it kept us all going when the going got tough – and it did get tough! The feeling of achievement, medal and of course the glass of fizz made it all worthwhile. We are lucky to be able to call the Lake District our home and we are so thankful to live in such a beautiful place.”
To date (22.06.2022) the Doddie Mighty Hikers have raised an amazing £2,459 which has smashed their target of £1,000.
The Dodd & Co Mighty Hikers, all from the Penrith office of Dodd & Co are (L-R) Heidi Marshall, Victoria Tait, Michelle Vogt and Vikki Balderstone and they completed the hike in 11hrs 56mins.
