Dodd & Co support some amazing causes with a donation of £2000 over the festive season.
Every year, in lieu of sending corporate Christmas cards, Dodd & Co makes a donation to charities chosen from a bank of staff recommendations. This year, the recommendations flooded in with so many charities having gone above and beyond to help those in need throughout the pandemic, all well deserving of the recognition for the fantastic work that they do.
The final four Dodd & Co Christmas Charities for 2020 were; The UK Sepsis Trust – a UK charity that works hard to fight this life-threatening condition, stop preventable deaths and support those affected by sepsis. Penrith and Carlisle Food Banks; collecting and distributing food and essential items to local families in need. The food banks continue to do an amazing job supporting families experiencing challenges, brought on even more so with the effects of the pandemic. And finally, Hebron Church; who worked hard to provide Christmas hampers for local families facing difficulties, coordinating family life through the uncertain year. The total donation reached £2000.
With Covid-19 restrictions in place and the majority of staff working from home, staff were unable to carry out their usual Christmas activities, including the ‘Doddie Christmas bake-off’, ‘Festive Breakfasts’ and ‘Santa Sandwiches’. These fundraising activities play a huge part in helping to raise money for the charities and so the staff had to get creative with new ways to stay connected and raise awareness. New to the Doddie festive fun, was the ‘Decorate your Desk’ competition – and this went down a storm with staff creating winter wonderlands in the offices and at home.
Dodd & Co also made a donation of Christmas selection boxes to Carlisle Youth Zone. As patrons, the firm usually contributes to Carlisle Youth Zone’s Christmas party day, however given the circumstances, CYZ were delivering gifts to children in the local area instead. Dodds were delighted to give Santa a helping hand and bring a little Christmas sparkle to local children in need.
Finally, staff also donned their best festive knits for ‘Festive Friday’ and took part in the CFM Cash for Kids Christmas Jumper Day, donating a total of £150!
Heidi Marshall, Partner at Dodd & Co, said “We are delighted to be able to support such wonderful charities again this year, and really give back to these amazing organisations for their persistence through an unthinkable year. Covid-19 put paid to our usual festive fundraising activities, but in true ‘Doddie’ style, the staff made such a fabulous effort to get involved as much as they could and keep spirits up, not just at Christmas but throughout the pandemic, and we are extremely proud of them. We very much hope that our donations will have a real impact on these amazing charities, and we cannot thank them enough for the work that they do.”
